NAMI Washington County Inc

Mission: To positively impact all those affected by mental health conditions by offering support, providing education and raising community awareness.

NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.  NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need.

NAMI Washington County, Inc. is the local affiliate of the national organization.  NAMI Washington County, Inc has been active as a 501(c)3 organization since 2000.

Our goal is to be Washington County’s resource for mental health information through education, support, and advocacy for anyone affected by mental illness, their family, and the community.

Our organization offers free support, education and advocacy programs for individuals living with a mental illness, their family members and the community. You are not alone, is a theme in our organization as we provide support and education.

The NAMI Welcome Center is where we have our programs specifically for adults and teens living with a mental illness.  These support groups are run by peers who have experience in recovery and offer “lived experience” to guide others who are facing the many challenges of these illnesses.  The Center offers a variety of peer support, art and social activities as well as trainings.

Outreach Programs offer mental health information and programs to local schools, groups and the community.

Family Programs offer educational and support classes/meetings specifically for family members and children affected by mental health concerns. Our programs educate people with up to date information on mental illness, resources and treatments.  The support groups are an important resource for developing coping skills, sharing information and self-care.
