

Who We Are
Mission: To empower those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault by offering safety, support, and community awareness.
FRIENDS, Inc. is a nonprofit organization serving survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence in Washington County since 1978. Using a trauma-informed approach, staff provides survivors with victim-centered services and programming that support individuals and families live a non-violent independent life well beyond program exit.
What We Do
FRIENDS offers a number of services including:
- 24/7 Crisis & Help Line – Trained Advocates are available to support individuals who need immediate help, or information about available resources.
- Emergency Shelter – Emergency short-term housing, case management, and advocacy are provided to those experiencing violence in their homes or relationships.
- Advocacy – Advocacy is available for those experiencing Domestic and/or Sexual Violence. Trained advocates offer emotional support and community resources.
- Children’s Services – Children’s Advocacy services for individuals age 3 through 17 who have been impacted by Domestic and/or Sexual Violence.
- Legal Advocacy – Legal Advocacy to individuals impacted by Domestic and/or Sexual Violence.
- Prevention Education – Age-appropriate presentations and lessons with curriculum developed for elementary, middle, high school, and adult audiences.
- Support Groups – A Psychoeducational support group for individuals who have experienced or are experiencing Intimate Partner Violence – including Domestic Violence and/or Sexual Assault.
