Volunteer: Rides & Reins Therapeutic Riding Center Super Clean Days!

In 1998, Mequon stable owner Don Elias leased his arena and horses to a group of therapists to work with special needs children and adults. He witnessed the positive results of horses helping with a variety of handicaps to improve strength, balance, mobility and outlook on life. In 1999, Don moved to a 45-acre farm in Slinger to start Rides & Reins Therapeutic Riding Center.

We couldn't manage a horse farm and riding center without the help of volunteers! Help us get our facility ready to serve children with special needs. We'll be scrubbing floors, cleaning overhead doors, giving our viewing room a fresh coat of paint, and more. It's hard work but SO rewarding. We'll also be serving up a picnic lunch from Noon to 12:30 on Saturday. We hope you can join us!

Volunteer: Craft your way into the hearts of hospice patients! (West Bend)

Do you enjoy making crafts? Do you want to volunteer from the comfort of your own home? Turn your hobby into healing by becoming a craft volunteer for hospice! Heartland Hospice needs more talented craft volunteers to donate items that will bring comfort to patients facing life-limiting illnesses. The sky's the limit when it comes to what you can donate, but some suggestions include: memory/comfort bears made out of loved one's clothing, crocheted or fleece lap blankets/shawls/slippers, full-size or decorative pillows, veterans-appreciation or patriotic items, stuffed animals (teddy bears), seasonal gifts or any other craft item that will brighten a patient's room.

Items can be dropped off at Heartland's business office in Milwaukee or we'll come to you. This is your chance to make a BIG difference without even leaving your doorstep! Please contact us if you're interested in donating handmade gifts of comfort to our hospice patients. We're waiting to hear from you! Contact Volunteer Coordinator Emilee at 414-944-2016 or emilee.high@hcr-manorcare.com for more info.
