Volunteer: Virtual (Phone or Video) Hospice Companion Volunteer – Flexible Hours – Make a difference from anywhere

Are you that compassionate individual who is eager to help but your schedule makes it difficult to be on-site to volunteer? As a Virtual Hospice Companion, you will be that periodic welcome phone or online visit for a patient in hospice care. Here’s a way to give back and make a difference from anywhere. Remote volunteering is flexible, inclusive, and impactful. If you have a caring heart, Horizon Home Care and Hospice will provide training, especially centered around therapeutic communication with the dying and the grieving.

Horizon Home Care and Hospice is certified by Joint Commission and reports to the State Board. As required, you should plan on 10-15 hours of in-person orientation structured to your schedule.

Virtual, phone and online volunteers are a key part of a patient’s care team. This opportunity is flexible and meaningful; your impact will be clear. While your comforting virtual contact will brighten someone’s day, you will be amazed how your day is brightened as well.

Please feel free to reach out to us today, to apply or just to make an inquiry. We'd love to hear from you!

Please call Kim Szymanski, Manager of Volunteer Services, at 414-586-8332, or email at kimberly.szymanski@horizonhch.org.

Volunteer: Veteran to Veteran Volunteer

Horizon knows that one out of every four dying Americans is a Veteran. At Horizon Home Care & Hospice / Kathy Hospice / Lawlis Family Hospice, we believe that Veterans deserve special consideration with regard to our volunteer program.

The goal of our Veteran to Veteran Hospice Volunteer Program is to match Veterans and Active Military individuals to Veteran hospice patients. We know that because of their common military experience, Veterans are able to form a bond that goes beyond their civilian roles.

Whether you are interested in making home visits or visiting patients at one of our hospice in-patient units in Mequon or West Bend, we have several roles to help you provide support to our Veterans.

We Honor Veterans at Horizon. Please contact us today to find out more about how you can be involved.
