Volunteer Opportunities From: Volunteer Center of Washington County

Volunteer: Crafting Relationships - Hearts and Crafts Weekdays

We are looking for volunteers to come craft with a group of people with disabilities. Volunteers will meet and get to know individuals with disabilities while helping them create a craft that will be donated out to the community to bring joy to others. Volunteers that can commit to come each time would be great, but not required.

This is a great opportunity for home school families, seniors or others that are looking to volunteer during the day. Groups are welcome - bring some friends from the office!

Event will be held at The Hub - Social Good Brews in the gallery room. All are welcome to join us!

Volunteer: Sing, dance, Jam out & meet new people!

Citizen Advocates Fusion is a music group for everyone that loves music.

We welcome people of all abilities and all ages to join in whatever way they are able.
Families are encouraged to attend together!

As a Fusion volunteer, you would be an integral part of this all inclusive music group. As a volunteer you will be considered a member of the group, you will also help support other members of the group by helping them learn new songs, learn dances, use the instruments, encourage them and build relationships with them.

This volunteer opportunity works best for volunteers willing to commit to being a regular part of the group so that you can learn the songs and build relationships, but if you can only attend once, we'd love for you to join us anyways!

Volunteer: Citizen Advocates Youth Respite - youth needed!

We are looking for Middle School and High School youth (and college students) to come hang out with some great kids that have disabilities in our Citizen Advocates Respite group.  The time is spent playing in the gym or outside, playing card and board games, and just having fun! Young men that want to play basketball, kickball and other gym sports are encouraged to join us. Pizza is provided for dinner.

We ask that volunteers arrive at 3:30 for a brief orientation. Volunteers are finished shortly after 7 pm.

The event is held at Silverbrook Intermediate School.  This is perfect for youth groups and scout groups.  Younger volunteers may be allowed, with parents in attendance.

The Citizen Advocates Respite Group is designed to provide monthly respite for the families/parents of the children with disabilities so that they may enjoy time for themselves; a dinner out, time for errands, rest, etc. In addition to the adult staff, youth volunteers are matched with the students throughout the event. Being matched allows the students more social interaction at the event and provides an opportunity for the youth to learn from each other and build relationships.

Volunteer: The Sunday Stroll - Let's walk and roll

Participants with physical and cognitive disabilities will be paired with a volunteer to take a walk and roll together with a vision of building relationships in our community and providing an hour of respite for the parents and caregivers.

Volunteers meet on the porch of The Hub (303 Water St. West Bend) at 10:45 AM and will be given brief instructions for the event. Participants will arrive by 11 AM and will be paired with a volunteer. Once everyone arrives, the group will head out on the Eisenbahn Trail for an hour long walk together.  Volunteers will get to know their buddy by talking and walking with them. Around 11:40 AM the group will turn back toward The Hub, arriving around noon. Volunteers are free to go when their participant is reunited with their caregivers. Dress for the weather, we will be outside for this event! We are able to accommodate families and groups volunteering together.
