Who We Are
Mission: To provide supportive services to youth and families helping them achieve an increased sense of safety, hope, and belonging.
The Youth and Family Project, Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Washington County, Wisconsin, that provides a variety of services to support youth and families facing challenges such as mental health challenges, family conflict, and other crises. The organization is dedicated to promoting the well-being of individuals and families by offering resources and programs aimed at empowering them to cope with stress, improve relationships and increase safety and stability.
What We Do
- Youth Services: A key focus of the Youth and Family Project is supporting at-risk youth. The organization provides individual and group counseling for young people dealing with challenges such as family conflict, mental health, and trauma. Additional case management and support is provided for homeless youth to help them navigate the transition into adulthood. Programs are designed to help youth develop healthy coping skills, build healthy relationships, and make positive decisions for their future.
- Family Support: The organization works with families who are divided by crisis. They offer supervised visitation and safe exchange, educational parenting support groups, and holiday support to help families strengthen their relationships and access needed resources.
- LGBTQ+ Support: After documenting an increase in the number of youth who feel safe disclosing LGBTQ+ identities to Youth and Family Project counseling personnel, they began creating specific resources and supports for LGBTQ+ youth and their families in Washington County. Support groups for LGBTQ+ youth and their parents/caregivers and an annual Pride Celebration help LGBTQ+ youth build community and feel a sense of belonging.
- Community Outreach: The Youth and Family Project engages with the broader community through outreach programs that raise awareness of issues such as homelessness, domestic violence, and youth in crisis. They also partner with local organizations to create a network of support for those in need.
- Advocacy and Referrals: In addition to direct services, the organization provides advocacy and referral services to connect individuals and families with additional resources in the community, such as legal aid, mental health services, and employment assistance.
