Each year The Youth and Family Project hosts an annual Pride Celebration to honor the diverse identities of the LGBTQ+ youth and families who live, work, and thrive in Washington County.
About Us
After documenting an increase in the number of youth who feel safe disclosing LGBTQ+ identities to Youth and Family Project counseling personnel, we began creating specific resources and supports for LGBTQ+ youth and their families in Washington County. We have found that the need is great, and additional resources are rare.
In 2022, the 1st Annual Washington County Pride Celebration was put together in only two months, with very little funding, at the request of youth in our LGBTQ+ Support Groups. We knew we had to make that celebration happen to let youth and their families know how much they matter, and that they have a place in our community.
We have developed a volunteer planning committee to support our efforts to expand and grow the celebration. The Annual Washington County Pride Celebration is an opportunity to support the community, celebrate our families, and raise funds to ensure LGBTQ+ programming continues to grow in our community.
2023: 2nd Annual Washington County Pride Celebration
For 2023, we are expanding and growing and anticipate a much larger event. The 2nd Annual Washington County Pride Celebration will take place at The Gardens Wedding Center in Allenton on Sunday, August 6, 2023 from 12:00 - 4:00 PM. This family friendly event will feature live music, games, information & resource booths, and LGBTQ+ merchant/vendor booths.
Volunteer Jobs
We will need help setting up, emptying trash cans, assisting attendees to find activities, running yard games, and cleaning up at the end of the event.
